Pros and Cons of Moving to Atlanta in the Fall

Moving to a new homeBy Julie DeLong, A-1 Freeman Moving Group

Moving, anytime of the year, is often equal parts fun and demanding. Moving in the fall offers its own unique benefits along with challenges. Many families have discovered that relocating in the fall leads to a smoother, more enjoyable move; others, as a result of special conditions, decide to hold off until a better time. Being professional movers in Atlanta, we would like to share with you a few pros and cons regarding relocating in the autumn season:

Pros:

1. The weather is generally good

If you opt to move during summertime, you may likely have to cope with high temperatures and humidity. Quite simply, you will sweat plenty when you load and unload your belongings. Alternatively, winter weather conditions may make moving frigid, unpleasant, and even hazardous.

The autumn is a good time to move as you steer clear of extremes of cold and hot. Fall temperatures are usually pleasant, and you likely do not need to worry about snowy or frozen driving conditions.

2. Professional movers could have reduced prices and more availability

Summer is typically the peak season for moving. Given that fall comes after peak season, you could be able to get a better deal when hiring a moving company in Atlanta. Furthermore, the moving company may be in a better spot to satisfy your moving dates, considering that their schedule is not as stuffed.

3. Home prices might be lower after peak moving season

Another advantage of moving during the autumn is that the costs of purchasing a new home may be lower than at other times of the year. If you plan on buying a home, you might be able to find a good deal on the new dwelling.

Cons:

1. It may be more difficult to sell your residence

If you don't presently rent and haven't sold your home yet, then autumn might be a difficult time of the year to get a purchaser to close on it - at least for the price you would like. There might be several factors behind this. For instance, a number of families do not wish to relocate in the autumn since it is the beginning of the school year, so they don't want to suddenly uproot their kids. Additionally, potential homebuyers who are employed in the educational arena are going back to work and may not have the time or propensity to carry on their search.

2. It could be hard to "settle into" a new house right before the holiday season

A lot of people are absorbed by the holiday season, either on an individual or a business level. Moving to a different spot can be hectic at any time but might be even more so right in front of the most frantic time of the year (at least for many people). Additionally, in case you have children, you need to really coordinate the move so they can transition into a new place with minimum anxiety - and fall probably are not the optimum time to make that materialize.

3. The elements might be erratic

Autumn conditions are typically pleasant, and without any extremes in temp or humidity. Even so, there exists still a component of volatility regarding autumn weather patterns. For example, if you are moving to or from a northern climate, there's always the chance that an unanticipated snowstorm will hit at the end of autumn - perhaps in November, or even October! There is also the chance that you will have to deal with a sudden heat wave, or unanticipated declines in temperature.

Keep in mind, whether you choose to move in the autumn or not, you should always look at hiring the assistance of professional movers to make your transition as seamless as is possible.
