Protect your TV During your Move09/24/2017Something horrible that can go wrong when moving is breaking something important… especially the television…. Here at A-1 Freeman Moving Group, we know it really sucks to get to your new house with a broken TV. We want to do everything we can to make your move as stress-free as we can here in Atlanta, whether you’re moving locally or long distance. That’s why we create a list of tips and tricks to use when you are packing up your TV. First off, you’re going to have to have a box that’s the right size for transporting your TV. Using the box and packaging that it came in is a great idea – if you still have it. If you threw it out, you can get packaging specifically made for moving flat-panel TVs from a hardware store or a moving supply store. You should find a box that is just slightly bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to bounce around when it’s inside. To move expensive and delicate items requires packing and preparation experience, not simply large trucks or specialized equipment. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group our team of experienced movers will help you with your move, however they can, even if it’s just securing your TV and making sure it’s packaged up correctly. Before unplugging everything, a good idea is to snap a few pictures of the back of your TV with all the cords still plugged in. This will make your life much easier when the time comes to reinstall your TV. After taking a picture, get your TV ready to pack up. First disconnect the power cord, then all other connecting wires and cords. Put all of them inside a bag together and tape this to the outside of the box. Sometimes there is a base you must remove from the television to fit it in the box. If this is the case, make sure to put everything in a small bag and keep it with the TV so everything stays together. Once you’re finished, you can get the TV all packed up. Whether you are going far from Atlanta or you are only moving locally, it’s important to see that your television is well covered. You should use foam pieces to cover the TV screen, these will come in your kit if purchased one, or in the box that your TV came in originally if you are using that. The foam not only keeps the screen protected, but it also will keep your television from bumping around in the box during your move. You can secure the foam pieces using mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover the whole TV and stop it from getting scratched. When your TV is all covered up it’s time to place it in the box! Keep it upright as you do this, and make sure it’s secure by filling holes with more sheets and blankets. This will help keep the TV from moving around in its box. Lastly, get the TV inside of the truck, or let the movers do it for you. Keep the box upright and get it next to other smooth, sturdy furniture, like your mattress, dresser, or a bookshelf. Don’t forget to put important cables by the TV, either in a bag taped to the side or in another box. After that you’re ready to go! Hopefully you have a moving company here in Atlanta to help you out, getting you across the country or your town quickly and safely, with all of your stuff intact. If not, A-1 Freeman Moving Group has got you covered! We can move you fast and efficiently, and we’ll make sure your TV is safe and sound so you have it all up and running when the big game comes around.
